LEGAL
Terms and Conditions
These terms govern your use of richmondbiolabs.com and every order you place through it. Please read them before you buy. By using the site or placing an order you confirm that you accept them and that you are buying for laboratory research use only.
Last updated: 15 October 2026
1. Who we are
This website is operated by Richmond Health & Biolabs LTD (“Richmond Biolabs”, “we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17365208.
You can reach us at [email protected], Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm GMT. Written notice under these terms should be sent by email to that address.
2. Age and eligibility
You must be 18 or over to use this website or to place an order. By continuing past our entry notice you confirm that you are. We may refuse or cancel any order where we have reason to believe this is not the case.
You must also be legally capable of entering into a binding contract, and you must provide accurate ordering and delivery details. We do not sell to anyone who is buying for personal use, for use in or on a person, or for onward supply to the public.
3. Research use only
This is the most important term on this page. Everything else follows from it.
All products sold by Richmond Biolabs are supplied exclusively for in-vitro laboratory research. They are not medicines, medical devices, dietary supplements, cosmetics, foods or veterinary products, and they are not licensed or approved as any of those things by the MHRA or any other regulator.
Our products are not intended for and must not be used for:
- human or veterinary administration or consumption of any kind;
- any therapeutic, prophylactic, diagnostic or clinical purpose;
- use in or on the body, including topical, oral, inhaled or injected use;
- food, cosmetic or household use;
- any in-vivo work not covered by an appropriate licence and ethical approval held by you.
By placing an order you warrant that you are acquiring the products solely for lawful in-vitro research, that they will be handled only by suitably qualified and trained personnel in an appropriately equipped facility, and that you will not resupply, resell, gift or otherwise transfer them to anyone who intends to use them outside that purpose.
If you cannot give that warranty, do not place an order.
4. No medical advice and no product claims
Nothing on this website — including product descriptions, certificates of analysis, technical notes, reference material, linked literature or anything said by our staff — is medical advice, a recommendation for use, or a claim that any product treats, prevents, diagnoses or cures any condition. References to published research are provided as scientific background for a research audience and are not an endorsement of any application.
We do not provide clinical, pharmacological or dosing guidance, and we will not answer questions framed around human use. If you have a health concern, speak to a qualified healthcare professional or, in an emergency, contact the emergency services or NHS 111.
5. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Legality. Satisfying yourself that the purchase, import, possession, storage and use of a product is lawful in your jurisdiction, including any licensing, controlled-substance, precursor, customs or import requirements that apply where you are. Legality in the United Kingdom does not imply legality elsewhere.
- Handling. Carrying out your own risk assessment before use, and handling, reconstituting, storing and disposing of the product safely and in accordance with your institution’s procedures and any documentation we supply.
- Suitability. Deciding whether a product is fit for your intended research. We do not warrant that any product is suitable for a particular application.
- Onward supply. Ensuring that anyone to whom you transfer a product within your organisation is bound by the same restrictions.
We accept no liability for loss, damage, injury or legal consequence arising from use, handling, storage or disposal outside these terms, or from use in breach of section 3.
6. Products, purity and certificates of analysis
Every batch we release is tested and ships against a certificate of analysis tied to the lot number printed on the vial, and we retain samples for re-testing. Certificates describe the batch as tested at the point of release; they are not a guarantee of performance in your assay, and they do not survive mishandling, temperature excursion or incorrect storage after delivery.
Product images, illustrations and packaging shown on the site are for identification only and may differ in appearance from what you receive. Vial fill weights are subject to normal manufacturing tolerance. We may change specifications, suppliers or presentation where the change does not materially affect the product.
7. Orders and how a contract is formed
Placing an order is an offer to buy. Our acknowledgement email confirms that we have received the order; it is not acceptance. A contract comes into existence only when we send an email confirming dispatch, and it covers only the items dispatched.
We may decline or cancel an order, in whole or in part, at any point before dispatch — for example where stock is unavailable, where a price or description was listed in error, where we cannot verify your details, where payment is not cleared, where we suspect fraud, or where supply would put us in breach of a legal or export restriction. If we do, we will tell you and refund any payment taken for the cancelled items in full.
We may also limit order quantities and restrict sales to particular countries.
8. Prices, currency and taxes
Prices are set in pounds sterling. Where the site displays another currency, that figure is an indicative conversion for your convenience; the contract, the amount charged and any refund are in pounds sterling unless we tell you otherwise, and your bank’s conversion rate and charges are a matter between you and your bank.
Prices shown include UK VAT where VAT applies, and exclude delivery, which is calculated and shown at checkout before you pay. A VAT invoice is available on request.
Prices can change at any time, but a change will never affect an order we have already accepted. If a product is listed at an obviously incorrect price, we are not obliged to supply it at that price and will contact you before proceeding.
9. Payment
We accept card payments, which are processed by our payment provider on a PCI-DSS compliant gateway, and we never see or store your full card details. We also accept bank transfer and cryptocurrency payments in BTC, ETH and USDT.
Payment is taken in full before dispatch. For bank transfer we hold the order until cleared funds are received; orders unpaid after 7 days may be cancelled and the stock released.
Cryptocurrency payments are quoted against a pound sterling price at the rate applying at the time of payment. You are responsible for network fees and for sending the exact amount to the correct address. Where a cryptocurrency payment is refundable under these terms, we will refund the pound sterling value of the order at the rate used when the payment was taken, and we will not compensate for movements in exchange rate.
Payment services are provided by third parties under their own terms. We are not liable for a processor’s decision to decline, delay or reverse a transaction.
10. Dispatch and delivery
Orders placed before 3pm, Monday to Friday, are dispatched the same working day; orders placed after that go out the next working morning. Dispatch does not run on weekends or English public holidays.
We ship worldwide using DHL, UPS, Deutsche Post and Royal Mail. Delivery estimates shown at checkout or by a carrier are estimates, not guarantees, and we are not liable for delays caused by carriers, customs, weather or anything else outside our reasonable control. You will receive tracking updates by email and, where you have given us a mobile number, by SMS.
You must give a delivery address at which someone can receive the parcel. If delivery fails because the address was wrong or incomplete, because nobody was available, or because the parcel was not collected and is returned to us, you are responsible for the cost of re-delivery.
Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. Title passes when we have received payment in full.
11. International shipping, customs and regional compliance
11.1 Buyer responsibility and import legality
All international shipments are dispatched on a Delivered at Place (DAP) basis. By placing an order for delivery outside our primary operating jurisdiction, you expressly represent and warrant that the products ordered comply fully with all applicable local, regional and national laws, import permits and regulatory requirements of the destination country. It is the sole responsibility of the Buyer to verify local import laws prior to placing an order.
11.2 Customs duties, holds and seizures
Richmond Biolabs makes no representation or warranty that any product offered is lawful to import, transit or possess in any destination outside our shipping location. The Buyer is strictly responsible for all applicable import duties, taxes, VAT, clearance fees and regulatory filings. In the event a shipment is delayed, held, seized, destroyed or returned by destination customs authorities or regulatory agencies due to country-specific import restrictions or lack of buyer authorisation, Richmond Biolabs assumes no liability, and no refunds, credits or re-shipments will be provided. We will, however, provide documentation to support any claim you make against a carrier or insurer.
11.3 Destination screening and right of cancellation
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to restrict, suspend or cancel shipments to any specific country, region or address to comply with international trade controls, destination-country restrictions or regulatory guidelines. We may request additional verification of institutional or professional status before dispatching international orders. If an order cannot be legally or safely fulfilled due to destination compliance checks, we reserve the right to cancel the transaction prior to shipment and will refund it in full.
11.4 Export control
You must not export or re-export our products in breach of any applicable export control or sanctions regime.
12. Cancellation and the right to change your mind
Our products are supplied to research organisations and to individuals conducting research. Where you are dealing with us as a business, no cooling-off period applies and cancellation after dispatch is at our discretion.
Where you deal with us as a consumer, you have the right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 to cancel within 14 days of receiving the goods and to receive a refund. That right does not apply to sealed goods which are not suitable for return for health protection or hygiene reasons once unsealed — which covers our vials. So:
- Unopened items with the tamper seal intact may be returned within 14 days of delivery. Tell us first at [email protected] and we will issue return instructions.
- Once a vial has been opened or its seal broken, it cannot be returned and cannot be refunded, unless it is faulty.
Unless the goods were faulty or wrongly supplied, you pay the cost of returning them, and you must return them in a condition and at a temperature that preserves them. We will refund within 14 days of receiving the goods back, to the payment method you used. We may reduce a refund to reflect any loss in value caused by handling beyond what was necessary to check the item.
13. Faulty, damaged or missing items
Check your parcel on arrival. If anything is damaged, short-shipped, wrongly supplied or does not match its certificate of analysis, tell us within 14 days of delivery at [email protected], with your order number and photographs of the item and its packaging. We will replace it or refund it.
If your order does not arrive, tell us within 30 days of the dispatch date so that we can raise a claim with the carrier in time.
Nothing here affects your statutory rights, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if you deal with us as a consumer.
14. Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your account password confidential and for everything done through your account. Tell us immediately if you think someone else has access to it. We may suspend or close an account that has been used in breach of these terms.
15. This website
We try to keep the site accurate and available, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of anything harmful, and we may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it without notice. Stock levels, prices and product information may be out of date at the moment you read them.
All content on the site — text, photography, graphics, logos, page design and the Richmond Biolabs name and marks — belongs to us or is licensed to us, and is protected by copyright and trade mark law. You may view it, and print or download extracts, for your own internal research reference. You may not reproduce it commercially, systematically scrape it, or use our marks without our written permission.
You must not misuse the site: no unlawful use, no attempt to gain unauthorised access to it or to any server behind it, no introduction of malicious code, no automated collection of data, and no use of it to promote human use of our products.
16. Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else which cannot lawfully be limited — including, where you deal with us as a consumer, your statutory rights.
Subject to that, we are not liable for:
- any loss arising from use of a product for anything other than in-vitro research, or from a breach by you of section 3 or section 5;
- loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, loss of research data or results, wasted expenditure, or any indirect or consequential loss;
- losses that were not foreseeable when the contract was formed.
Our total liability in connection with any order is limited to the amount you paid for the products giving rise to the claim. Any claim must be brought within 12 months of delivery.
You agree to indemnify us against any claim, loss or cost we incur as a result of your breach of these terms or your use of a product outside the permitted purpose.
17. Events outside our control
We are not liable for failure or delay in performing our obligations where it is caused by something outside our reasonable control — including carrier or postal disruption, customs action, supply shortage, fire, flood, epidemic, industrial action, civil unrest, government action, or failure of utilities or telecommunications networks. If the situation continues for more than 30 days, either of us may cancel the affected order and we will refund anything paid for undelivered goods.
18. Complaints
If something has gone wrong, email [email protected] with your order number and we will acknowledge within 2 working days and aim to resolve it within 14 days. We would rather settle a complaint directly than have you take it anywhere else.
19. Changes to these terms
We may amend these terms from time to time — for example to reflect a change in law, in our products, or in how we ship. The version in force is the one published on this page when you place your order, and the date at the top tells you when it last changed. Changes are not applied retrospectively to orders we have already accepted.
20. General
These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us in relation to your order, and they replace anything said or written beforehand. If any provision is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another business; you may not transfer yours without our written consent. Our failure to insist on a term at one point does not waive our right to enforce it later. Nobody other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
21. Governing law
These terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the UK in which you live.
